Jeff taught French at Hotchkiss School and Thacher School, and he went on to a successful career in fundraising at Carleton College and the University of Chicago. At the age of 47, he was stricken with multiple sclerosis and lived out the rest of his life without the use of his limbs or voice. Still, he continued to maintain his notable sense of humor and pursue his version of a wonderful life.

Jeff was a good friend at Blake, and the reason I chose Bowdoin for my college. Jeff was Blake’s first Bowdoin Polar Bear I believe and certainly one of the first Minnesota Gophers to travel to the wilds of Maine!
I will always be grateful for his persistence in having me chose Bowdoin over several other excellent colleges. He will be missed by many!
