Robert J. Grainger ’54 died on February 19, 2016, in Phippsburg, Maine.

Robert John Grainger passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at the age of 83 on February 19, 2016. Born in Bath, ME as the youngest of eight children, Robert spent many years of his life in St. Louis, MO, but was most recently a resident of Phippsburg, ME where he lived with his wife, Therese Grainger. Robert graduated from Bowdoin College and later received a Master’s degree in Physics from Dartmouth College. He worked as an engineer for Boeing in St. Louis while raising his five children Matthew (Natalee), Andrew (Elizabeth), Maureen, Brendan (deceased 2009) and Kathryn Meyer (Keith) with his predeceased wife Kathleen (1991). Robert was a beloved grandfather to Aaron, Evan, Elise, and Austin and uncle to Ruth Zedalis Chandler, the late Paul Zedalis, Elaine Dudevoir, Mark Lozier, John Lozier, Carol Coverdale and David Lozier as well as to many great nephews and nieces. His sister, Eleanor, survives him.
