Richard G. Briggs ’59 died March 21, 2013, at his home in Belpre, Ohio. He was born in Bangor on June 11, 1937, son of the late Gordon D. Briggs ’33, and prepared for college at Hampden Academy and Hebron Academy. Glenn H. Matthews ’59

Glenn H. Matthews ’59 died July 17, 2013, in Wilmot, N.H., of Alzheimer’s disease. He was born on June 28, l937, in Quincy, Mass., and prepared for college at Braintree (Mass.) High School. Robert Randall McLeod ’59

Robert Randall McLeod ’59 died on January 12, 2003, in Winthrop, MA. Born on June 3, 1937, in Boston, MA, he prepared for college at Winthrop (MA) High School and the New Hampton School in New Hampshire and became a member of Delta Sigma Fraternity at Bowdoin, which he attended in 1955-56 and again in 1957- 58. He was graduated from Boston University in 1964 and for many years was associated with the General Electric Company in Lynn, MA, as a business programming analyst, as manager of personnel accounting, and as manager of information systems. He was a member of the Cottage Park Yacht Club and St. John’s Episcopal Church in Winthrop. He is survived by a brother, Steven E. McLeod of Yorktown, VA.

Roger D. McLeod ’59, also known as Sagamo Powa Matagamon, Chief Sachem of Pawtucket Indian Lodge, died March 21, 2012, in Lowell, Mass. He was born in Rumford on November 9, 1937, and prepared for college at Stephens High School, where he was a member of the National Honor Society and a prize-winning speaker. Continue reading

Ronald E. Tripp ’59

Ronald E. Tripp ’59 died May 28, 2013, in Limington. He was born in Portland on June 22, 1937, and graduated as salutatorian of South Portland High School’s class of 1955. He played football and threw javelin at high school and at Bowdoin, where he was a member of Zeta Psi fraternity. After Bowdoin, he joined Tripp Oil Company, a family business begun by his parents in 1933, and remained active in the business until its sale in 1983. Continue reading
