Peter D. Fuller ’59

Peter D. Fuller, 84, of Kennebunk, passed away on Sept. 9, 2021, at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Born on May 9, 1937, in Beverly, Mass., Peter was the son of Patricia (Page) and Earl R. Fuller. Peter grew up in Camden, graduated from Melrose High School (Melrose, Mass.) and from Bowdoin College in 1959.

Following his service as an officer in the 82nd Airborne Division of the U.S. Army, he began his career with the Eastman Kodak Company. Ten moves later, including one to a foreign country, Peter and his wife, Delta Lee, retired to his grandmother’s home in Kennebunk in 1990 where they were finally able to put down roots. Here, Peter generously gave his time and talents to the community. He served as Senior Warden at both St. David’s and St. Ann’s Episcopal churches. He was President of Webhannet Golf Club. He served on the Board of Trustees of the Brick Store Museum, the Board of Directors of Habitat for Humanity, York County, and President of the Board of the Kennebunk Free Library.

For Peter’s substantial contributions to the community, he was recognized as a Paul Harris Fellow by the Rotary Club of Kennebunk. Peter’s love of Bowdoin College was no secret. He served the College in many ways, including being a member of the Alumni Council, a class agent, and a member of the hockey arena fund raising committee. He was awarded the Polar Bear Award in recognition of his significant personal contributions and outstanding dedication to the college.

Peter was a humble man of deep faith. His family was his greatest joy. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend. He beamed with pride when talking about his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed golf, especially playing in the Webhannet Member Guest Tournaments with his son, Derek, for 23 years, watching his grandchildren play sports or perform, and of course, cheering on the Bowdoin College Polar Bears.

Peter is survived by his wife of 61 years, Delta Lee; son, Derek Fuller and his wife Kim of Geneva, Ill., two daughters, Karen Fuller of Austin, Texas, and Holly (Fuller) Goodell and her husband, Chris, of Dover, N.H.; his beloved grandchildren Seth, Sam, and Olivia Fuller and Cameron, Tessa, and Harrison Goodell; and his devoted dog, Winston.
