William M. Lehmberg ’59 died on February 3, 2022, in Paradise Valley, Arizona

William M. Lehmberg ’59

William M. Lehmberg, age 84, of Paradise Valley, AZ, passed away peacefully on February 3, 2022, with family at his side. Bill was born in Worcester, MA, and grew up in Riverside, CT. At the age of 7, he began competitive sailing on Long Island Sound. After graduating from St. Luke’s School, he attended Bowdoin College where he won the New England intercollegiate sailing championship. Bill’s competitive nature led him to success at the Insurance Company of North America, in New York City. At one of the many parties Bill hosted with his roommates in the city, he met his future wife, Janice; they married 1965. Bill was recruited by a New England Life agency to run the investment department in 1969. He spent the next thirty years as a trusted advisor and mentor to many. Bill and Jan raised their two children in Wayland, MA, and spent summers on Martha’s Vineyard. Bill is survived by his wife, Jan; his son William G. Lehmberg (Alexandra) of Nairobi, Kenya; and his daughter Pamela V. Lehmberg (M. Jonathan) of Needham, MA. Throughout his life, he took great pleasure playing tennis, golf and bridge, traveling; reading the news and novels, and closely following sports. He relished spending time with his four grandchildren: Jackson and Lily Segal and Jimmy and Eric Lehmberg.
