Adams, Richard W. “Dick” 81, passed away February 27, 2018. Beloved husband of Nancy B. Adams. Beloved father of Jeffrey W. Adams and his wife Andrea. Devoted grandfather of Nathan and his wife Claire, Evan, Cameron, Gordon, Graham, Amy, and Sarah Adams. Caring father-in-law of Jody Adams. Dick was predeceased by his son, David B. Adams.
Dick was a retired bank executive and served on and chaired committees of the American Bankers Association, Mass Bankers Association, and many Boston charities. He later founded Adams and Company, a financial service and marketing firm. A resident of Hingham for fifty-two years, Dick was a former member of the town’s personnel board. After graduating from Bowdoin College, he served on active duty for two years as an officer in the Army Reserves.
Dick enjoyed leaving winter weather behind to vacation in the Turks and Caicos at his condominium at Ocean Club, where he was a past chairman of the homeowners executive committee. His summers were spent at a camp on the shore of a wilderness lake in Downeast Maine. With the help of his wife and teen sons, Dick cleared the land and built the first two rooms of their camp in 1970. He loved fishing, reading, cooking, and especially spending time at the lake with family and family dogs every summer. Dick was a board member of the Big Lake Township Camp Owners Association.
