W. William Harvey ’46

W. William Harvey ’46 died on November 12, 2019 in San Diego, California.    

William (Will) Harvey passed away on November 12th, 2019 in San Diego, California. He was one month shy of his 94th birthday.

After graduating from Bowdoin with a BA in chemistry and physics in 1947, Will went on to earn his Ph.D. in physical chemistry from MIT in 1952.

Will spent most of his adult life in Massachusetts where he worked as a physical chemist and later on as principal and owner of Arlington Technical Services, a consulting firm. He moved to San Diego after retirement, attracted by the subtropical climate and networking opportunities.

Until his untimely death, Will remained an active member of the American Chemical Society – San Diego Chapter and the Epiphyllum Society where he served as master of ceremonies in 2017. Will is remembered for his kindness, mirth and quick wit.

He is survived by his three children, Ron Harvey (Boulder, CO), Valerie Harvey (Dover, NH), and Gail Cassese (Melrose, MA), four grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
