Brent A. Corson ’68 died May 24, 2013, at his home in Skowhegan. He was born on February 14, 1946, and graduated from Skowhegan High School. He was a member of Sigma Nu fraternity. A talented pianist and member of the Glee Club and Chapel Choir, he was the winner of the Sue Winchell Burnett Prize in Music, awarded to the senior who “has made the most significant contribution to music while a student at Bowdoin.” He also won the best actor award in Masque and Gown’s annual one-act play contest. An ROTC graduate, he entered the Army as a second lieutenant and served four years, attaining the rank of captain. He served with the 197^th Black Horse Battalion in Vietnam and was awarded two Bronze Star Medals for valor. After his discharge, he went on to earn a master’s degree in theater in 1974 and a master of fine arts in acting in 1975, both from Case Western Reserve University, where he became involved in professional theater for several years as a resident actor in the Front Row Theater for the Young. He later returned to Maine and was named “Best Actor in Maine” at the 1964 New England Drama Festival. He even landed a minor role in the Bette Davis movie Harvest Home. He worked for the postal service in Madison as a rural carrier and took on an active role in the Revolutionary War enactments at Old Fort Western in Augusta. He is survived by sister Cathy Corson Lucey and brother Thurl R. Corson Jr.
