Charles S. Christie II ’55 died on July 14, 2019, in North Chatham, Massachusetts.

Charles Sumner Christie II, born in Providence, RI, on April 11, 1933, to Allen and Mildred (Richardson) Christie, passed away peacefully in his sleep on July 14, 2019.
Charles graduated from Moses Brown in Providence, RI, and attended Bowdoin College in Brunswick, Maine. He was very proud of his time at Bowdoin College, where he made many lifelong friendships.
Charles was an avid gardener as well as an experienced hiker, belonging to the Appalachian Mountain Club and the Green Mountain Club. He also belonged to Habitat for Humanity, Men’s Club of Chatham, National Ski Patrol in Ohio, New Jersey, and Massachusetts, and the Monomoy Yacht Club in Chatham.
Charles was a gifted storyteller, who enjoyed sharing stories about college, travel abroad, skiing, hiking the Appalachian trail, and his time stationed in the Army in France.
Charles was a loving and caring husband to his wife Eleanor (Ellie) and a devoted father who connected with his children every week by phone, once visiting them was no longer possible for him.
In addition to his wife Ellie, Charles leaves behind his brother, Peter Christie of Scottsdale, AZ; his sister Judith Anderson of Mystic, CT; his children Charles Christie of Conroe, TX, Allen Christie of Sammonish, WA, Isabelle Drenning of Reisterstown, MD; stepchildren Peter J. Tarbell of Centerville, OH, John W. Tarbell of Monson, MA and Alison T. Mulligan of West Roxbury, MA; as well as seven grandchildren.
