David M. Moore ’59 died on June 16, 2024, in Newburyport, Massachusetts.

Newburyport – David Moore passed away on Father’s Day, June 16, with his family by his side.
Born on March 25, 1936, in Washington D.C., he was the son of the late John Rutledge Moore and Annetta Morley Moore of Bethesda, MD.
A graduate of St. Alban’s School, David was a choirboy at Washington National Cathedral in 1944 and continued to sing throughout his adult life, most recently at Christ Church Episcopal in Andover. For several summers, he was a member of the Trinity Episcopal Church Choir in Boston.
After graduating from Bowdoin College, David was in the industrial fire insurance business for several years, then sold college texts throughout New England for Harcourt Brace Jovanovich.
In 1975, he and a partner founded State Street Associates in Newburyport, and later he worked for Harbor Realty. He also owned numerous small residential apartment buildings in the city which he managed for many years.
David is survived by his beloved wife, Beverly Monchun, as well as two sons and their wives Jonathan Moore (Deidre) of Newburyport and Christopher Moore (Molly) of Brooklyn, New York, and two grandsons, Cameron Moore and Arlo FitzSimons Moore. Also surviving is his sister, Patricia M. Ashton of Shaker Heights, Ohio, nieces and great nephews and nieces. He’ll be truly missed by his wonderful English Cocker, Daisy.
David’s family is very thankful for the wonderful care he received from Anna Jaques Hospital, Masconomet Healthcare Center, and Elara Caring.
