Donal B. Murphy ’66 died on April 7, 2023, in Carmel, California.

Our classmate Don Murphy died on April 7 in California from traumatic brain injuries sustained from a tree falling over on him during one of those atmospheric river rainstorms that swept through California in March.

Don was a member of Theta Delta Chi at Bowdoin,  who spent a career in the field of immunology, earning a PhD, and then holding professorships at Yale University and the State University of New York at Albany. Don’s wife, Patricia, met Don at Bowdoin while she was a student at Colby, and went on to earn a PhD at Yale in genetics. Pat owns her own genetics-related research firm and still works full-time.

Don and Pat spent summers in Don’s native Bar Harbor, and winters in Carmel, California.
