Gilbert G. Mages G’65 died on December 11, 2008, in Dewey, Wisconsin.
He earned a degree in mathematics and education at St. John’s University in Minnesota and then taught high school math at Eielson Air Force Base in Alaska for three years before earning his master’s degree in mathematics at Bowdoin. He went on to teach at University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point and then earned his doctorate in mathematics education at the University of Northern Colorado. He then returned to his teaching career at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point, retiring as professor emeritus in 1999. He is survived by his wife, Pat of Stevens Point; three daughters, Lisa Mages-Greene of Wausau, Sherry Houben of Stevens Point, and Darcie Mueller of Plymouth; five brothers; a sister; and five grandchildren.
