Gregory Michael Pottle ’61

Gregory Michael Pottle ’61 died on January 21, 2004, in Panama City, Florida.

Born on April 18, 1939, in Chicago, IL, he prepared for college at Weymouth (MA) High School and became a member of Sigma Nu Fraternity at Bowdoin, which he attended in 1957-58. Following his graduation from Boston University in 1962, he joined AVCO Corporation in Lowell, MA, and became a senior test engineer in West Palm Beach, FL. Beginning in 1976, he was in business for himself as the owner of Marvel Marine in Lake Park, FL, handling boat sales, marine hardware, engine sales, and engine repairs. He was also an engineer with Turbo Combustor Technology, Inc., in Stuart, FL, and most recently was a Pratt and Whitney senior test engineer, assigned to U.S. Air Force bases in California, Nevada, and Florida, following some years as technical manager/Asia with Windsor AirmotiveAsia, with assignments in Singapore, Taiwan, and Korea. Surviving are his wife, Yvonne Sarty Pottle, whom he married in 1963; two daughters, Betsy Ewer and Michele Haire; four grandchildren; and his aunt, Evelyne Commoss of Cohasset, MA, who raised him.
