Dr. Jeffrey E. Kean ’64 died July 3, 2014, in Deerfield Beach, Fla. He was born on December 12, 1942, in Woburn, Mass., and graduated from Reading (Mass.) Memorial High School. A member of Zeta Psi fraternity, he went on to earn a master’s degree in psychology at the University of Bridgeport in 1968 and a doctorate at Boston College in 1977. He served as the chief psychologist at the Nomic Child Development Center in Bridgeport from 1965 to 1967. He taught psychology, first at Endicott Junior College from 1967 to 1970, then at the division of continuing education and community services at North Shore Community College from 1970 to 1972. After that, he returned to clinical work as a staff psychologist and coordinator of outpatient services at Kennedy Memorial Hospital in Brighton, Mass. He could often be heard tapping his Bowdoin class ring on the steering wheel to the oldies. He was survived by his wife, Elaine Baldwin Kean; son Robert E. Kean ’92; daughter Elizabeth Kean Jackson ’97; stepdaughters Sharon Kane, Patricia Farrell and Robin Roberge; six grandchildren, and brother Pete Kean.
