John A. Currie ’73 passed suddenly on October 13, 2023, in Brunswick, ME. He was born in Dallas, TX, on September 24, 1950. John lived in Oklahoma and Texas until he moved to West Hartford, CT, when he was 9. He graduated from Connor High School in West Hartford before arriving at Bowdoin College in 1969.
John loved his time at Bowdoin. He cherished his friendships with his Beta brothers, his lacrosse team mates, and the challenges presented by his government professors. After John graduated in 1973, he worked for Aetna, Adams and Porter, and JE Stone, in Houston, Texas. He completed his career as an employee benefits consultant at Employee Benefit Solutions, Inc,. in Houston, Texas.
Married to Eileen Sheedy-Currie ’74, John was the proud father of Ian Arthur Currie and Patrick Richmond Currie. He had a treasured relationship with his grandsons, Alexander and Quinn Currie, and his daughter-in-law, Heather Currie. He leaves behind his sister, Carolyn, cousins, nieces, and nephews
