John A. Wood ’66 died on December 4, 2023, in Port Townsend, Washington.

John Wood passed peacefully in his sleep in the early morning of December 4th , 2023, after succumbing to a long but brave battle with cancer. Born September 10th, 1944, John was 79 years of age. John was a well-established resident and private practice attorney in Port Townsend and surrounding area. He graduated from Bowdoin College, Maine, and Georgetown University Law School, Washington, DC. Among his favorite pastimes, John could often be seen chatting with locals at the Port Townsend Food Co-op and at several of his favorite restaurants. John was an avid reader and enjoyed his large collection of books. He was a fine story-teller and delighted in wide-ranging conversations on any topic without judgment or prejudice. He valued and respected the thoughts and opinions of others, and was often generous in sharing his wisdom and knowledge of the law. John was a staunch supporter of animal welfare and enjoyed the companionship of felines. Through the years, he himself provided a home for several rescue cats. John enjoyed solitude and a simple life. Still, he will be missed by his friends, acquaintances, and his beloved cat Feisty. Feisty, now Auggie, is happy in his new home.
