John A. Carnevale ’85 died on April 9, 2016, in Boxford, Massachusetts.

CARNEVALE, John A., President & CEO of Sentinel Benefits & Financial Group, died unexpectedly Saturday evening, April 9th. He was 52 years of age and a resident of Boxford, MA. John graduated from St. John’s Preparatory School in Danvers, MA in 1981 where he was the first recipient of the Brother Linus Scholarship Award and captain of the varsity football team. He graduated cum laude from Bowdoin College in 1985 with Bachelor of Arts degrees in Government and Environmental Studies. There, he was a brother of Beta Theta Pi fraternity and captain of the varsity football team. He graduated from Suffolk University Law School, Boston, MA, in 1990. John started Sentinel Benefits & Financial Group in 1987 with his father, Anthony and brother, James. He was named one of the 100 most influential people in the 401(k) industry by 401kWire in 2014. He was an Ernst & Young “Entrepreneur of the Year” finalist in 2003, and was named to Boston Business Journal’s “Top 40 Under 40” in 2002. He has served on the Board of Trustees for St. John’s Prep for the past 10 years. John married Linda Corsetti, his college sweetheart, in 1985 and they went on to raise their two children, Max and Ava. He had an unwavering ability to balance work and play, while encouraging everyone around him to do the same. He was a passionate boater and a kind man who worked hard to help people achieve their goals through his leadership and infectious spirit. Loving husband of Linda Corsetti Carnevale; devoted father of Max and Ava; beloved son of Anthony and Joanne Carnevale; son-in-law of Dolores Eva Corsetti; dear brother of James Carnevale; loyal and trusting friend to many. Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at St. John’s Preparatory School, Kennealy Commons in the Br. Keefe, CFX Academic Center, 72 Spring St, Danvers, MA on Thursday, April 14 from 4:00 pm – 8:00 pm. A funeral service will be celebrated in the Chapel of St. John’s Preparatory School, Administration Building, at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, April 15. Satellite parking will be available at St. Richard’s Church, 90 Forest St, Danvers, MA. Shuttle buses will usher guests to the school’s campus. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the “Sentinel Cares Fund”, Sentinel Benefits & Financial Group, 100 Quannapowitt Parkway, Suite 300, Wakefield, MA. 01880 which has been established to support education, health and wellness, and communities in need.
