John M. Shugert ’72 died August 3, 2015, in Lexington, Massachusetts.

Shugert, John McClare Age 65, of Lexington, MA, died on August 3 at home after a long and courageous struggle with pancreatic neuroendocrine tumors. He was the devoted son of John Richard Shugert and Grace Charnock (McClare) Shugert. He is survived by his beloved family: his wife, Linda Hayes Webb; his son, Timothy Webb Shugert, daughter-in-law, Sheina Leah Grossman, and grandsons, Reid Elliott Shugert and Henry Samuel Shugert of Seattle, WA; his daughters, Katherine Hayes Shugert and Elizabeth McClare Shugert of Boston, MA; his brother, Peter Hurley Shugert of Ayer, MA; and his cousin, Rosemary Jane McClare of Mount Vernon, NY. Born on June 11, 1950, John was raised in Pepperell, MA, and graduated from Bowdoin College in 1972. During his career in non-profit development, he worked at the Library of the Boston Athenaeum, the New England Historic Genealogical Society, Harvard Medical School, Bentley University, the Boston Foundation, and Mount Auburn Hospital. John treasured time with his family, was an avid runner and biker, enjoyed reading and listening to music, and loved his dogs, Cinnamon and Moxie. Memorial arrangements are private.
