Joseph D. Vacchiano ’51 died January 16, 2014, at his home in Westbrook, of pancreatic cancer. He was born on August 12, 1929, in Yarmouth, and graduated from South Portland High School. He attended Bowdoin from 1947 to 1950, a member of Zeta Psi fraternity. He owned and operated Pat’s Meat Market until retiring in 2001. He was a member of The Italian Heritage and The Elks Clubs in Portland. He is survived by his wife of forty-seven years, Sandra L. Allen Vacchiano; daughter Leslie Wenzel; sons Joey and Jamie Vacchiano; stepdaughter Wendy Poitras; stepson Brad Marston; and seven grandchildren.
