Joseph V. Flanagan, Jr. ’46 died on July 2, 2010, in Hyannis, Massachusetts.

Joseph V. Flanagan Jr., of Hyannis, MA, formerly of DeWitt, NY and Milton, MA, died July 2, 2010 at age 85. Beloved husband of Ruth A. (Murphy) Flanagan. He is survived by his son, Mark D. Flanagan and his wife, Laurie (Gamble) of Sudbury, MA; his daughter, Susan A. Flanagan of Washington, DC; his son, Stephen G. Flanagan and his wife, Karen (Dix) of Wilton, CT; and, his daughter, Kathleen L. Flanagan and her husband, Larry L. Orr of Chevy Chase, MD; as well as his seven grandchildren, Kathryn (Flanagan) Espinal and husband, Richard, Connor M. Flanagan, Matthew D. Flanagan, Brooke H. Flanagan, Lindsey E. Flanagan, Elizabeth C. Orr and Natalie R. Orr. He was the brother of the late Dr. James M. Flanagan. Joe was a graduate of Johnson High School in North Andover, MA, Philips Andover Academy and Bowdoin College. He was an ensign in the Navy during WWII and worked as an executive in the food service industry throughout his career. An avid sports fan, he loved lacrosse and all of the Boston sports teams, especially the Red Sox.
