Kenneth E. Morrell Jr. ’42 died July 16, 2014, in Colorado Springs, Colo. He was born in Wayland, Mass., on February 24, 1921, and graduated from Wayland High School. He graduated cum laude from Bowdoin, where he was on the football team, a member of Phi Beta Kappa and Zeta Psi fraternity. He earned a master’s degree in business administration from the University of Massachusetts and served in the Army during World War II. He worked for Bath Iron Works, Bethlehem Steel in Massachusetts, the Boston Navy Yard, Draper Corporation and Dennison’s prior to joining General Electric. He worked on the Polaris missile, Apollo moon shot and Poseidon and Nuclear Propulsion programs. He was also a member of the GE’s Elfun Society. He was a Methodist and a member of the Masons since 1945. He is survived by son Kenneth E. Morrell III; daughter Ellen Morrell; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and brothers Bruce E., John B., and Stuart B. Morrell ’50. He was predeceased in 1993 by his wife of 54 years, Barbara Myers Morrell.
