Michael Walter Bennett ’67

Michael Walter Bennett ’67 died on September 12, 2005, in Garden Grove, California.

Born on December 8, 1945, in Los Angeles, CA, he prepared for college at Phineas Banning High School there and became a member of Theta Delta Chi Fraternity at Bowdoin. During his freshman year he was one of the five members of the Bowdoin team that was such a success during 1962-63 on the nationally televised “G-E College Bowl” program, which was televised in color by the NBC-network on Sundays in the early 1960s. During the Vietnam period, he served in the Army from 1966 to 1969 and was awarded the Purple Heart and the Combat Medical Badge. He returned to the College in 1969 and returned to California in 1971. After working as a shipping clerk with Ferguson’s Marine Specialties in Wilmington, CA, for a year, he worked with the U.S. Postal Service in Long Beach, CA.
