N. Dean Barrett, age 85, passed on peacefully to his creator October 5, 2018, surrounded by loved ones. Born in Peekskill, New York, to Milton and Constance Barrett, Dean graduated from Mahopac High School and attended Bowdoin College. He worked on Wall Street, owned an appliance business, remodeled homes, and was an active member of the Rotary Club and The Church of the Holy Communion in Mahopac. Dean was most humbled by the privilege of serving the Town of Carmel, first as Commissioner of Jurors for twelve years and later elected as supervisor for the Town of Carmel for three terms, or six years. He served his community proudly, as did his father Milton and grandfather Robert Austin, supervisor 1836-1838. Dean was predeceased by his sister Daphne Seaton and leaves behind his devoted wife Arlene with whom he shared forty-two years. He is survived by his sons Shawn Barrett of Lake Luzerne, New York; Dean J. Barrett and wife Jennifer of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; daughters Lynnette Caputo and Daneen Kallstrom both of Mahopac, New York; his step children Richard Conway, Cathi Horowitz and husband Mark; Donna Colantuono and husband Peter; sixteen grandchildren and one great granddaughter. Dean loved sharing his retirement on Cape Cod with his family and he especially enjoyed gardening, walking, and relaxing at the ocean.
