Richard G. Balboni ’59 died on March 11, 2009, in Danvers, Massachusetts.
He was born in Everett, Mass., on November 18, 1937, and prepared for college at Jericho (Vt.) High School and Holten High School. After Bowdoin, where he was a member of Sigma Nu fraternity, he went on to earn a master’s degree from Middlebury College in 1969 and a certificate from the Montserrat School of Visual Arts in Massachusetts in 1973. He served in the Army 82nd Airborne Division during the Vietnam War. He held teaching positions at Hamilton-Wenham (Mass.) Regional High School and the Hathorn Regional Center in Danvers, Mass., a state-run school for children with developmental disabilities. For many years, he taught French at Triton Regional High School, where he chaired the foreign language department. Following his retirement from Triton, he taught French and Latin at St. Mary of the Annunciation School in Danvers. He enjoyed photography and drawing political cartoons, and was an active volunteer at the North Shore Music Theatre. He is survived by a son, James Willmonton, and two grandchildren.
