Longmeadow – Ronald Wilcox Sawyer, 91, former resident of Chicopee, passed away on Sunday, March 30, 2014 at the Jewish Nursing Home. He was born in Cambridge, MA and was the loving son of the late Ralph and Hazel (Wilcox) Sawyer. He was a graduate of Springfield College. Ronald proudly served his country in the Army Air Corp during WWII. He played the Clarinet and saxophone in the Official USAAF Symphonic Band in Washington, DC during the service. For 8 years he was the Director of Employee Assistance at Belchertown State School. He was also in charge of advertising and sales promotions at MassMutual. He leaves his daughter, Deborah Sockol of Rockville, MD; 1 son, Dana Sawyer of ID; 2 grandchildren, Geoffrey Sockol and Jonathan Sockol; and his companion, Ruth Broad of Longmeadow.
