Thomas F. Winston Jr. ’54 died on November 27, 2013, in Portland, Maine.
He was born in Lynn, Mass., on July 12, 1932, and prepared for college at Swampscott (Mass.) High School. He attended Bowdoin from 1950 to 1954, where he was a member of Alpha Tau Omega fraternity, and he served in the Army. He initially worked in retail at several department stores but made a career change when he went to work as an underwriter for Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield, where he remained for more than twenty-five years before retiring in 1991. He was a longtime member of the Eagles Bowling League and the Blue Cross Blue Shield Golf League, both in Concord, Mass., where he achieved a goal of making a hole in one at Beaver Meadow Golf Course. He is survived by his wife of fifty-one years, Jeanne King Winston; daughter Kristin Winston; son Sean Winston; two grandchildren, and sister Nancy Winston.
