Thomas Wourgiotis ’72 died on November 19, 2023, in Lowell, Massachusetts.

Thomas Wourgiotis of Lowell, MA, 73, passed away on Sunday, November 19, 2023. A lifelong Lowell resident, also Hampton, New Hampshire, he was known to all as Tommy or Tom. The only son of the late George and Sophie (Dabilis). Wourgiotis is survived by his loving wife, Nancy J. Fagan. They recently celebrated their fortieth wedding anniversary. Tom graduated from Lowell High School in 1968. He received a bachelor’s degree from Bowdoin College and an MBA from Rutgers University. He spent his initial working years in municipal and non-profit financial administration until deciding he needed a new challenge. He spent the rest of his career conducting criminal investigations of federal financial crimes as a special agent in the Criminal Investigation Division of the IRS. After retirement, he and Nancy traveled to France, Ireland, England, and various locations in the United States. He was happiest at their condominium in Hampton. He loved all sports, particularly basketball, where he was a referee. Tom is also survived by his aunt and godmother, Marion (Wourgiotis) Metropolis; and his uncle, Arthur (Regina) Dabilis; and his godchild, Patricia (Shattuck) Adams-Guthro. He leaves many close friends from childhood, through his working years and his many loving cousins. Tom and Nancy are grateful to the many dedicated doctors, nurses and staff for the care he received at Lahey Hospital in Burlington for the past five years, as he battled renal cell carcinoma, also, the staff at Lahey/Sawtelle Hospice House in Reading for their care and compassion in his final days.
