Victor L. Fortin Jr. ’48 died on August 18, 2016, in South Glastonbury, Connecticut.

Victor L. Fortin, Jr., M.D., 90, of South Glastonbury and formerly Bloomfield, beloved husband for 61 years of the late Prisca (Drapeau) Fortin, passed away peacefully on Thursday (August 18, 2016). Born in Brunswick, ME on February 11, 1926, he was the son of the late Victor L. Fortin and Alice (LeBeau) Fortin. He served his country proudly in the U.S. Army during WWII. Victor was a graduate of Bowdoin College, where he excelled in football and track. He received his medical degree from Howard University in Washington, DC. He began practicing medicine in Hartford with Salvatore Carrabba, M.D. until he joined the staff at St. Francis Hospital as the Associate Director of OBGYN, retiring in 1994. Victor enjoyed boating and loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. A loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather, he will be dearly missed by his two sons, David Fortin and wife Joyce and Victor L. Fortin, III; four adored grandchildren and three cherished great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, Richard Fortin and wife Debbie of Maine; sister, Alice Thalheimer of New Jersey; sister-in-law, Gemma Moran of South Carolina, as well as many nieces and nephews, extended family members and friends.
