Warren T. Burnell ’58

Warren T. Burnell ’58 died on June 22, 2023, in Zephyrhills, Florida.

Warren “Ted” Burnell, 92, died peacefully in his sleep on June 22 in Zephyrhills, Fla.

Ted was a teacher and coach for thirty-three years, teaching in Berwick, Stanford, Conn., Bar Harbor, and MDIHS. Although he always taught math, history was his love and major in college.

Ted will be remembered for his quiet demeanor, warm smile, abundance of patience, love of animals and nature, being a loyal Duke fan, and his morning coffee and doughnut.

He is survived by his daughter, Karen, and her husband, Wayne Sprague, daughter-in-law, Mary Burnell, grandchildren Amanda and Steve Corson, Bryant and Erin Walls, Timothy Walls and Victor Pizarro and Paul Burnell, great-grandchildren Brittany and Zachary Corson and Colby and Makenna Walls. He was predeceased by his loving wife, Jeanne, son Charles (Chuck) and grandson Adam.
