William A. Brown ’54 died March 30, 2013, in Windham. He was born on March 13, 1933, in Milo, and prepared for college at Milo High School. He served in the Army Finance Corps, mostly in Germany, graduated cum laude from Bowdoin, and earned a master’s degree in mathematics from the University of Maine in 1959. He was a professor of mathematics at the University of Maine–Portland (now called the University of Southern Maine) for more than thirty-two years, retiring in 1992. He is survived by sister Carolyn Kelly. He was predeceased by brothers Nelson and Lawrence Brown and sister Verna Coakley.
