John E. Woodward ’41 died on January 27, 2016, in Dallas, Texas.

WOODWARD, John Emery Died peacefully on January 27th, 2016 in Dallas, Texas at the age of 96. He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Mary Jayne Woodward and his son Donald Emery Woodward. John is survived by sons John Jewett Woodward (Elaine) and Jeffrey Lincoln Woodward (Sharon), five grandchildren; Meghan Humphries (Jeff), Silver Shea (William), Julia Woodward, Anna Woodward, Matthew Woodward and great granddaughter Eden Shea. John was born in Taunton, MA and attended Taunton public schools and the Lawrence Academy (Groton, MA). His undergraduate degree was from Bowdoin College (Brunswick, ME) and he earned an MBA from Harvard Business School. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII (Admiralty and Philippine Islands) and retired after 20 years of service in the Navy Reserve at the rank of Lt. Commander. John was employed at Metals and Controls Corp. (Attleboro, MA) and moved to Dallas in the early 1960’s where he worked for Texas Instruments for 35 years. He was a long-time, active member of Spring Valley United Methodist Church. A private service will be held at Restland Funeral Home. In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Spring Valley United Methodist Church (in support of the Stephen Ministry) or the Donald E. Woodward Scholarship Fund (Southern Maine Community College, Portland, ME).
