Col. David E. Farnham ’52 died January 14, 2014, in Reston, Va. He was born in Augusta on January 11, 1928, the son of Edward Farnham ’27, and prepared for Bowdoin at Deering High School and Portland Junior College. A member of Chi Psi fraternity, he went on to receive a master’s degree in philosophy from Boston University in 1958. He served in both the Marine Corps and Army, retiring in 1978, following senior staff assignments with the CIA, Department of State, Office of the Secretary of Defense, and Army. He was awarded three Legion of Merit awards for his service. He is survived by his wife, Juliette Farnham, son David B. Farnham, stepdaughter Paula Fulton, sisters Maryjane Metcalf and Judith Burton, and one granddaughter. He was predeceased by son David R. Farnham in 2006.
