Richard H. Allen ’58

Col. Richard H. Allen ’58 died on January 25, 2012, in Gainesville, Virginia.

He was born on March 29, 1936, in Providence, R.I., and prepared for college at Alexis I. Dupont High School.  He was a member of Beta Theta Pi fraternity. He served in Army intelligence, stationed in Korea, Germany, and Vietnam, and retired in 1989 after 30 years. He was awarded a Bronze Star, Meritorious Service Medal, Joint Service Command Medal, three Army Commendation Medals with two Oak Leaf clusters, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign medal with a silver star, and a Vietnam Service Medal. He is survived by Karen Doll Allen, his wife of more than 40 years; two sons, Trent E. and Seth M. Allen; and three grandchildren.
