David Allen Stackpole ’54

David Allen Stackpole, 92, of Hollis, NH, passed away peacefully on Thursday morning, February 27, 2025, after a life well lived.

He was born in Biddeford, Maine, on October 4, 1932, the son of the late Howard and Caroline (Ward) Stackpole.

Following his graduation from Bowdoin College and after serving in the U.S. Army, David was a pioneer in the computer industry, travelling this country, Europe and the Pacific Rim for over thirty-five years, until his retirement from Digital Equipment Corporation in 1992.

Along with his parents, David was predeceased by his brothers Howard, Jr., James, Robert, and Joseph, and his sisters, Patricia Stackpole and Laura (Stackpole) Mitchell.

David is survived by his loving wife of sixty-eight years, Shirley, his children Debra and her husband, Bruce, Carol and her husband, Eugene, John and his wife, Elizabeth, Beth and her husband, John; granddaughters, Margaret and her husband, Trevor, Kiley and her husband, Joseph, and Cassidy; great grandchildren, Juliet, Christophe,r and Allison; and several nieces and nephews.
