(The following was provided by the Nichols Funeral Home – Wilmington on January 23, 2026:)
David B. Stockwood, age 73, of Somerville, passed away peacefully on January 20, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.
David was the beloved husband of Virginia Harvey of Somerville and a devoted father to Sonya Quinton and her husband Al of Billerica, and Eva Rae of Butner, North Carolina. He was the cherished “Papa” to his grandchildren, Sydnie and Aubrey Quinton of Billerica, who were the absolute joy of his life.
Born to the late Walter and Margaret (Puddister) Stockwood, David was a loving brother to Gordon Stockwood and his wife, Beth, of Amesbury, Jane Stockwood of Waldoboro, Maine, Rick Stockwood and his wife, Elizabeth, of Elliot, Maine, and Barbara Edson and her wife, Mauri Williams, of Durham, North Carolina. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews, as well as the extended Harvey family, all of whom he held close to his heart.
David was a proud graduate of Bowdoin College where he studied history and Russian language. After graduation, David became a master electrician and joined the family company at W.B. Stockwood, Inc. where he worked for his entire adult career.
Throughout his life, David found great joy in his many travels with Ginny and his family. An avid sports enthusiast, skier, and lover of all water-related activities, he spent much of his life enjoying summers on Pine River Pond and Lake Winnipesaukee, engaging in lighthearted shenanigans with his siblings and friends. When David met Ginny, there was an immediate spark. They complemented each other, and it was rare to see them apart. He was known for his kind heart, generosity and for the way he showed up for the people he loved.
Above all else, David will be remembered as the best Papa. He prided himself on never missing a moment of his granddaughter’s lives no matter how big or small. He will always be remembered for ice cream sangies, hair dos and his ability to make all their friends feel welcome. His love for Sydnie and Aubrey was limitless, and the bond they shared will forever be one of his greatest legacies.
David’s kindness, devotion to family, and quiet strength will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.
