David C. Anthony, Jr. ’69 died on March 10, 2024, in Sugar Land, Texas.

David C. Anthony, Jr. ’69

David Chace Anthony, Jr., passed away on March 10, 2024, at home, lovingly surrounded by family. Born in Providence, Rhode Island, to David Chace Anthony and Mary Elizabeth Anthony, he was raised in Rumford, Rhode Island, and summered at Plum Beach in Saunderstown. Upon graduation from Bowdoin College, he entered the Navy and served four years as a Portuguese linguist. Following discharge, he pursued a Master of Business Administration from Bryant University and worked for AMICA Insurance Company for twenty-eight years.  He retired as the branch manager of the Sugar Land, Texas, office of AMICA. Dave and his wife, Jill, enjoyed extensive travel in their retirement years including summers in Plum Beach.

He is survived by his wife of fifty-three years, Jill Porter Anthony, sister Adele Anthony, daughter Jennifer Anthony Boswell, son David Chace Anthony, III, son-in-law David Scott Boswell, daughter-in-law Kristin Mercer Anthony, grandchildren Rebecca Leigh Boswell, James Garrett Boswell, Chace Mercer Anthony, Paige Madelynn Anthony, granddaughter-in-law Madeline Vondra Boswell, great-grandson Thomas Stephen Boswell and countless relatives and friends who will miss him greatly.

    At Bowdoin, David was an outstanding squash player, and I believe was captain of the squash team. I was #2 on the team, and I competed against him often, rarely sucessfully, no matter how hard I tried!
