David N. Lawrence ’78

David N. Lawrence, of Falmouth, MA, passed away on August 1, 2024.

He was the loving father of Christopher and his wife, Laura, of Hingham, and Marisa of Dorchester. Loving husband to Susan of Falmouth and adoring grandfather to Ryan, Matthew, Olivia, and Hannah Lawrence, all of Hingham. David is also survived by his sister, Deborah, and her husband, Stanley Forman, of Beverly and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents, Barbara N. Lawrence of Falmouth, and G. Campbell Lawrence.

A life-long resident of Falmouth, David attended Falmouth High School, lettering in football, hockey, and baseball. He was inducted into the Falmouth High School Hall of Fame in 2012. Upon high school graduation, David attended Bowdoin College in Brunswick, ME, playing hockey and making friendships he would enjoy for the rest of his life. Following Bowdoin, David graduated from New York College of Insurance. After working in the insurance business in Boston, David founded Lawrence Insurance in 1988 which he successfully owned and operated for over thirty-five years. As a boating enthusiast and an avid golfer, he cherished his time on the water and was a forty-three–year member of Woods Hole Golf Club.

David raised his family in Falmouth and was a mainstay in the community, donating his time to many youth sports over the years including board positions at Falmouth Youth Hockey. Giving back to Falmouth was of great importance to David. He was an ardent supporter of the Falmouth Ice Arena capital campaign in 2012, Heritage Museum & Gardens, and Salt Pond Bird Sanctuaries, a cause close to the heart of his late mother Barbara N. Lawrence of Falmouth.

Above all, the time he spent with his children, wife, grandchildren, and friends was what brought him the most joy. He relished every aspect of their lives, always wanting to know what the latest news was, and took pride in everything they did. Their smiles lit up his world.
