KENNEBUNK – Elliot Rogers Green, 88, of Kennebunk, passed away on Mon-day, March 20, 2017, at Maine Medical Center, in Portland. Elliot was born in New York City on April 23, 1928, to the late Thomas Dudley Green and Natalie Rogers Green, and was a direct descendant of Nathaniel Lord Thompson, 19th century sea captain and ship builder, of Kennebunk.

He spent his childhood in West Hartford, Conn., and graduated from Kingswood School; then went on to graduate from Bowdoin College. He served in the Korean War as a sergeant in the Army Artillery. He thoroughly enjoyed his career of over 50 years, which was spent in the fiberboard industry. That included sales and product development, as well as mergers and acquisitions connected to that industry.

With the exception of 10 years spent in North Berwick, he and his family lived in Kennebunk. He served as a trustee of Kennebunk Light and Power District, trustee of North Berwick Water District, and was also a Scout Master of Boy Scout Troop #304. He was a member of Alcoholics Anonymous where he valued many long and active friendships. He was a former member of Arundel Yacht Club where he sailed with family and friends for many years. Playing doubles tennis with a local group was a favorite pastime for over 40 years, and he also downhill skied with family and friends for over 50 years. He had an annual, thriving vegetable garden until recent years. He was also very interested in history and could often be found reading and learning more about it. He and his wife traveled frequently with Elderhostel, often to learn more about history.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 34 years, Elizabeth A. Green, of Kennebunk; and his children Robert Douglas Green, of Belhaven, N.C.; John Duncan Green and his wife Susan, of Lyman; and Julia Lisa Buchanan of Arvada, Colo.; as well as a brother, Thomas D. Green, of NYC. He was predeceased by his sister Julia T. Green. He leaves two granddaughters, Kori A. Green, of Boston, Mass.; and Jessica M. Green, of Kennebunk; stepgranddaughters Jessica Jones and Charlotte Smith; as well as two cousins, Sandra Lovell, of Cambridge, Mass.; and Premena, of Boulder, Colo. He is also survived by his stepdaughters Sarah Ciampa and husband Michael, and Lucy Jalbert and husband David, all of Cape Cod, Mass.
