F. Proctor Jones ’46 died on December 18, 2010, in Wellesley Hills, Massachusetts.

Proctor Jones, 87, of Wellesley Hills, died December 18, 2010, with his family by his side.

Born on August 20, 1923, in Somerville, the son of Dr. Frank L. Jones of New Brunswick, Canada, and Annie Proctor of Searsmont, Me., Proctor, an Eagle Scout, grew up in Winchester and was a graduate of Winchester High School ’41, Hebron Academy ’42, and Bowdoin College, class of ’46, as an English major and a member of the Sigma Nu Fraternity.

Proctor served in WWII as a US Navy fighter pilot, flying Corsairs off of aircraft carriers before returning to Bowdoin to graduate in 1948. His early career was in radio as a general sales executive with RKO Network, followed by years in ad agency executive management, and finally was owner and president of the New England Exhibit Company.

Proctor was a passionate Boston sports fan, especially football, for many years a golfer and curler at Brae Burn Country Club, and a very active member of his beloved Wellesley Hills Congregational Church, serving in many capacities as deacon, assistant, treasurer, usher, and more. An avid reader and conversationalist, he loved people, history, storytelling, and a good laugh.

Proctor is survived by his beloved wife of over sixty-two years, Sally (Browne) Jones. He is the devoted father of Stephanie Schweighofer-Jones of Los Gatos, CA, and her former husband, Philippe Schweighofer of Paris, France, and Mark Jones and his wife, Bernadette, of Wrentham, MA. He is the proud grandfather of Dominique Sally Marie Schweighofer, Claire Yvan Proctor Schweighofer, Ian Jones, and Lincoln Jones. He is also survived by his sister, Phyllis Collins and her husband, Clark Collins, of New London, NH, and uncle to Chuck Collins and Laurie (Collins) Bashaw and her husband, Joel.
