Frederick W. Dawson ‘51 died on February 9, 2011, in Falmouth, Maine.

Frederick Wilsey Dawson passed away February 9, 2011, in Houston, Texas. Mr. Dawson was born in Cleveland, Ohio, on January 15, 1927. He attended Western Reserve in Hudson, Ohio, and served as an Army sergeant in Germany during WW II. He attended Bowdoin College in Brunswick, Maine, and after graduating went to work for Continental Emsco. He worked for that company and its successors for over forty years, until 1994, retiring as director of international sales. During his long tenure he served the oil industry on six continents. He was among the first groups of America businessmen to travel to Beijing forty years ago.

After retirement, he volunteered as a reader for Taping for the Blind. His contributions were recognized last year by a Bank of America Houston Volunteer of the Year Award, and a booth at the facility is named in his honor. He is survived by his beloved longtime companion Janice Rodgers; son and daughter-in-law Douglas and Marcia Dawson of Austin, Texas; son Andrew Dawson of New York City; granddaughter Sophia Dawson, also of Austin; and sister Mary Evangelista of Wellington, Florida.
