Issoufou A. Kouada ’71

Issoufou A. Kouada ’71 died on September 15, 2019 in Beltsville, Maryland.

Issoufou A. Kouada, age 73, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, September 15, 2019, in Beltsville, Maryland.

He was born April 23, 1946, in Gaya, Niger, to Biena Kouada and Salamatou Mayaki.  He graduated from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) in Troy, New York in 1975 with a Ph.D. in mathematics.

To pursue his passion for mathematics, he went on to teach at the University Abdou Moumouni of Niamey, Niger, department of mathematics, where he greatly contributed to the development of the curriculum.  He also worked as the first vice-president, secretary-general of the Department of Higher Education.

In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing, gardening, travelling, and spending time with friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and four siblings, and survived by his wife, Salamatou; three children, Aminata, Ibrahim, and Nafissata; and three grandchildren, Avery, Olivia and Noah.
