J. Ward Scripture ’50 died on November 5, 2016, in Manchester, Connecticut.

John W. Scripture, 91, of South Windsor, loving husband of the late Doreen Scripture, passed away Saturday, November 5, 2016, at Manchester Manor. Born in Milo, Maine, son of the late Ward and Eva (Leet) Scripture, made his home in East Hartford for many years. He served in the US Navy during World War II. Upon his retirement from the East Hartford Police Department he and his wife lived “the good life” enjoying new friendships and the warmth and sun that Florida had to offer. They loved camping in their motor home and would travel back to Connecticut every summer to visit family. He leaves to mourn his passing, daughters Nancy Plefka of South Windsor, Linda Purdy and her husband Jack of Jupiter Island, FL, son, Brian Loomis and his wife Linda, of Angwin, CA; grandchildren, Dawn Plefka of Windsor, John Plefka and his wife Susan of Coventry; great grandchildren, Zachary Tillotson, Joshua Tillotson of Stafford Springs, Benjamin Tillotson of Windsor, and Jordan Plefka of Coventry.
