James Linwood Pulsifer, 81, died Monday May 17, 2021, at the Togus VA Hospital. He resided on the Greenwoods Road in Peru. Jim was born in Lewiston, ME, on December 18, 1939, the son of Clyde and Maude (Safford) Pulsifer. He was a graduate of Leavitt Institute in Turner. He attended Bowdoin College and graduated from the University of Maine in Farmington. He served in the US Air Force from 1962 – 1966 at Vandenburg Air Force Base in the 576 SAC and 394 SAC missiles squadron. Jim taught school in SAD # 21 for fourteen years before working as a PC Consultant for Boise Cascade and being responsible for putting personal computers throughout the mill. He was very active in the town government of Peru serving on the planning board, finance committee and many years as a selectman. He was instrumental in the forming of the Northern Oxford Regional Solid Waste Board, the merger of the Peru school district with SAD #21, and the Med-Care ambulance service where he served as treasurer for many years. Jim had his own style of doing things. After time, people understood his ways. Anyone who has worked with him knows what we are talking about. He treated everyone the same and never held a grudge. He could get things accomplished even when there were differences of opinion. He was generous and helpful to anyone who needed assistance. He could solve almost any problem and would often step up to resolve it. He loved his family especially his grandchildren. Worthley Pond residents will miss seeing his near-daily trip around the pond on his pontoon boat. Jim was married in Rumford, ME, on July 1, 1962 to Mary Hodsdon, who survives of Peru. Other survivors include his sons, Dean and wife, Sixia, of Lexington, KY, and Christopher and wife, Claire, of Hillsborough, NJ, a daughter, Laura Shaw, and her fiancé, Dan Bilodeau, of Auburn, grandchildren Stephanie, Christine, Nicholas, Elizabeth, Kevin, David, Carter, and Harrison, his siblings, Edith Little, Robert Pulsifer, Joanne Ricker, Howard Pulsifer, Maryland Bates, and Barry Pulsifer.
