James R. Brewer Sr., a former Dining Service staff member, died on April 18, 2016, in Topsham, Maine.

TOPSHAM — James Rexford Brewer Sr., 59, resident of Eider Lane in Topsham died Monday, April 18, 2016 at his home surrounded by his family after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born August 24, 1956 in Bath, ME a son of Robert E. Sr. and Barbara L. (Dunton) Brewer. He was educated in Bath elementary schools and graduated from Mt. Ararat High School in Topsham with the Class of 1975.
Jim worked in the Dining Service of Bowdoin College for many years. Prior to that he had worked at Bath Iron Works.
His passions in life were his family and his love of nature, which he enjoyed by camping, hiking and skiing. Some of his favorite spots were Horns Pond at Bigelow Mountain, Hermit Island and the Rangeley Lakes Region.
He had a special talent for seeing art in wood and creating magical pieces, which he sold in art galleries and fairs. He also donated pieces to non-profits. His sense of humor and warm heart will be dearly missed.
Jim was predeceased by his parents and a grandson, Jacob Collins.
Survivors include his wife, Patricia J. (Rosenbaum)
Brewer of Topsham, two sons, James R. and his wife Angela Brewer of Brunswick, Brian J. Brewer of Topsham, two daughters, Stephanie A. Brewer of Brunswick, Amanda S. Brewer and her fiancé Joseph Keene of Lubec, ME. Step children Eric Silevinac and his fiancé Barbara Berinato of Brunswick, Jason and his wife Emily Silevinac of Cumberland, Joshua and his wife Lynn Silevinac of Bowdoin, Christa Silevinac of Brunswick, a brother Robert E. Jr. and his wife Ellen Brewer of Bath, a sister Brenda L. and her husband Roy Apt of New Boston, NH, ten grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He also leaves his first wife and good friend, Sue (Simard) Poliquin.
