Janet Aitken died on June 29, 2013, in Brooklyn, Connecticut.

Dr. Janet Aitken, 96, born December 23, 1916, formerly of Millers Falls, MA, and Storrs, CT, died Saturday, June 29, 2013, at Pierce Memorial Baptist Home, Brooklyn, CT. She received her BA from Smith College, and her master’s and doctorate degrees from Johns Hopkins University.

She was head of the geology department for the University of Connecticut until her retirement.

She is predeceased by her brother, Robert “Bob” Aitken, and survived by her sister-in-law, Toni Aitken of Sarasota, FL; three nieces, a nephew, a great-nephew and three great-great-nephews.
