Jay Paul O’Connor Sr., 90 years, of Kennebunkport, Maine, and Marco Island, Florida, died October 8, 2018, at his summer home in Kennebunkport with his loving family at his side.
Jay was born April 4, 1928, in Cambridge, Mass., a son of Jeremiah and Alice (Dineen) O’Connor. He graduated from Phillips Academy in Andover, Mass., and proudly served his country in the US Army after graduation. He then went on to earn his bachelor’s degree from Bowdoin College in 1952. Jay enjoyed his career as president of New Hampshire Explosives and Machinery, Corporation in Concord, NH.
Jay divided his time between the beaches of Goose Rocks in Kennebunkport, Maine, and Marco Island, Florida. He loved the beach, playing tennis and golf, and weekly poker games. He also enjoyed his ‘Boston All Sports Days’ where he and friends spent the day in Boston, dined out and took in a game. Most importantly, Jay loved his family.
Jay was predeceased by his son, William M. O’Connor and by his first wife, Jacqueline (Montgomery) O’Connor.
Jay is lovingly remembered by his wife of thirty-three years, Joan (Hannah) O’Connor; his daughter, Colleen M. O’Connor and her husband, Christopher H. Mullin, of Falmouth, Maine; his sons, Jay P. O’Connor, Jr. and his wife, Jannifer, of Scarborough, Maine; Christopher C. O’Connor and his wife, Jana, of Kennebunkport; and Michael D. O’Connor and his wife, Heidi, of Falmouth, Maine; ten grandchildren, Rose, Benjamin, Madeleine, Colin, Jack, Billy, Chase, Sean, John and Joe; his sister, Elizabeth Jane O’Connor and her husband Edward L. O’Connor, of Manchester, New Hampshire, and several nieces and nephews.
