Jeffrey K. Rutherford ’66

Jeffrey K. Rutherford ’66 died on March 6, 2016, in Berwick, Maine.

Jeffrey K Rutherford died March 6, 2016. He was born April 11, 1944 in Boston, the son of Gaynor K Rutherford ’36 and the former Barbara Curtis. He prepared for college at Lexington High School in Massachusetts and Gould Academy in Bethel.

At Bowdoin Jeff majored in music and graduated with honors in music. He was a member of the Glee Club and the Meddiebempsters and toured Europe for the USO in the summer of 1965. He was a member of Theta Delta Chi.

After graduating in 1966, Jeff began teaching in the Kittery Schools; he continued there until 1998 when he retired. He earned a Masters Degree from the University of New Hampshire, and directed the Durham, NH Chamber singers.

Jeff was predeceased by his parents and a nephew, Douglas Macnab. He is survived by his wife of over 20 years, the former Cindy Pettigrew in Berwick, a son Scott Rutherford in Portsmouth, NH, a daughter Wendy Corrigan in Amherst, NH, a sister Judy Macnab in West Lebanon, NH, a brother John Rutherford ’69 in Niles, OH, a brother James in Dover, DE, three grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
