John J. Padbury ’39 died on January 19, 2011, in Manchester, Connecticut.
He was born on July 24, 1916, in Rockland, Maine, and prepared for college at Brunswick High School. He earned a doctorate in chemistry at New York University in 1944. He joined American Cyanamid Co. in 1943 and worked there for 46 years, retiring in 1989. He attended St. Mary’s Episcopal Church in Manchester and was active in numerous capacities with the Manchester Area Conference of Churches. He was an active member of the Manchester Rotary Club and a Paul Harris Fellow. He is survived by a daughter, Nancy P. Fish; three granddaughters; and five great- grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife of 57 years, Muriel Hill Padbury, in 2001; by a brother, Harry Padbury; and by three sisters, Alice Williams, Angeline Padbury, and Marion Holbrook.
