Joseph Frederick Carey ’44 died on February 28, 2005, in Beverly, Massachusetts.

Joseph Frederick Carey, of Jamaica Plain and West Harwich, died on February 28, 2005. Beloved husband of Marion (Brauneis) Carey. Loving father of Susan K. Carey and her husband, Stephen O’Brien, of Holyoke, Stephen J. Carey and his wife, Lilia, of Beverly, Frederick J. Carey and his wife, Stephanie, of Albuquerque, NM, and the late Sara Carey. Devoted brother of James Carey of Weymouth and the late Frances Russo and Emily Deletre. Also survived by six grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Marine Corps veteran of World War II, graduate of Boston Latin School in 1940, of Bowdoin College in 1944, and of Harvard Graduate School of Education. Mr. Carey was a teacher for Boston Tech and Brighton High and was the director of the Educational Planning Center for Boston Public Schools.
