Joseph J. Tecce ’55 died on April 16, 2026, in Wellesley, Massachusetts.
(The following was provided by the Boston Globe on April 23, 2026:)
Joseph J. Tecce, age 92, of Wellesley, MA, April 16, 2026. Joe was the beloved husband of Mary Jo (Spigelmire) Tecce for sixty-seven years; and was the devoted father of Anthony C. Tecce of Somerville; Maria A. Tecce of Dublin, Ireland, Peter M. Tecce, and his wife, Lynne N. Harrold, of Wellesley, Susanna M. Ralli and her husband, James A. Ralli, of Natick, and Christopher J. Tecce of Newton; and was the loving grandfather of Cara E. Tecce of Wellesley. He was the son of the late Amelia and Giuseppe Tecce; and the brother of the late Mary Giangregorio and the late Peter Leone. He grew up in Wakefield, MA, and lived in Wellesley, MA, for sixty-one years. He taught psychology at Boston College for forty-eight years, and was a psychology expert for the media for thirty years. He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army, and was a devoted Catholic. His warmth, humor, and generosity – as well as his passion for educating and connecting with people – will be missed.

I never met Joseph Tecce, but I was in the same Bowdoin College class as his son, Christopher, whom I remember as a kind, caring, friendly person – qualities he obviously inherited from his father, as well as his pursuit of psychology. It was also interesting to hear Joseph’s theory that the U.S. presidential candidate that blinked the least during presidential debates would win the election. (That was certainly true about Barack Obama.) Thanks you, Joseph, for all your imaginative psychological insights. Rest in peace.
